Doverwood's Balancing of Growth and the Environment into the Millennium

Doverwood P.S. is located in the southern Ontario, Canada, town of Port Dover. We are a split Grade 5/6 class located in a portable classroom. The class was divided into groups and leaders were decided on. After the research was done and the creation process began, members from one team would help another in particular areas of expertise. Everyone learned new programs and how to work in teams. Some learned how to use a digital camera and modify the photos to make smaller images or backgrounds. We met Our Kick Offsome prominent local people and honed our interview skills. This image was taken by a construction worker atop the water tower using the school's camera. It was to celebrate our 30th birthday.

Our Community

Rachel is the team leader, with Cate, Alex, Linzi, Sarah, Duncan. We arranged for theCommunity Group visitors to come into our classroom and interviewed the police on the phone. We created our own html and charts. Mr. A. took our photos but we scanned and edited them and put them into our web pages. We also drew some of the future images of Dover and some of the animals for the environment pages. We have all worked hard as a team to form 1 awesome Web Page! We all know it was a great experience!

Laura was the leader and the members are Kurtis. Aaron, Cam, Tonya, Josh and Mike, Chris. We interviewed people and researched information on the internet, in books and pamphlets. We created our own animations and backgrounds as well as type our own html. The class helped with the animal drawing but we did some too.

Local History      History Group

Our team leader is Meg. The other members are Willie, Amber, Candace, and Nicci. Everybody did some of the research, but Meg and Willie really got into the project and carried a lot of the work. Meg and Willie are responsible for most of the backgrounds and animations, although every body learned how to animate. We also drew animals and images of Dover in the future. We got Mr. Stan Morris's permission to use some of his old photos to help promote Dover, which he is very interested in. He is the editor of our local newspaper. Willie and Meg also helped create and edit some of the other pages. Our group was really fun to work with, most everyone was doing their part in making this whole project come together. Willie was a lot of help to our group with his natural interest in history. It just took a while for him to get used to working with 4 girls.

Steve, Paul and Courtney did their own camera work and Eli used the digital for the soil.

Overall we had a wonderful time creating this project.

This page was created by the team leaders. Mr.A. took the team photos using a digital camera. We scanned the maple leaf from a Government document which we can reproduce for school work, then edited it to form a background. All Government and Board of Education publications coming into the school can be copied for school work. The 2000 images also came from these Government documents. Overall we had a great time creating these pages.
