"The 6 billionth baby has less than 1 chance in 10 of being born into relative prosperity. On the other hand the child has 3 chances in 10 of being born into extreme poverty. Half the world's poor are children."
(UNICEF report-The progress of Nations 1999)

The World population is growing at the rate of 78 million a year. Over 95% of growth is in the developing countries. The population may grow to 8.9 billion by 2050. In 62 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America 40% of the population is under the age of 15. More than 1/5th  of the population that is over 1 billion is between the ages of 10 and 19.

We visited the bylanes of our city where a lot of school going children live. We saw that there was a lot of poverty - everyone had a lot of brothers and sisters and no one really had anything good to wear or eat!!
We realized that if there were fewer children in these families, they would all have a better life and lots more fun.  Sounds simple, isn't it?
During our Group Discussions we realized that the earth is
bursting with so many people on it. All over the world, people need to be made aware that they should have smaller families. Our teacher read out something interesting to us :

"Educated women are more likely to have fewer children; women with more years of schooling are more likely to have  the number of children they say they want"

                                                                               ( UNFPA 99)

Now we realize why our own school encourages Adult Education and lays stress on Female Literacy . This project has relly helped us to SEE some of the problems and to THINK of the SOLUTIONS. Indeed we are all .............................................
                  Learning together and growing together.

OUR VISION FOR THE FUTURE

sun-earth.jpg (112055 bytes) "In our interdependent world you can't afford to let people lose out in pursuit of a decent life. Everyone must be a winner."

Mr.Schwab - Founder,World Economic Forum.

During this project, 3 schools from 3 countries collaborated and learnt a lot about each other. It was fun. We learnt about each other- our lifestyles, our hobbies, our festivals but we also met the have nots - those friends who can not share this web site with us!
When our  concern moves beyond the three  schools, beyond the three countries, beyond the three continents and becomes a truly global concern, only then can we all truly learn together grow together.
After all, we are all neighbours on the same planet.

Our vision for the future?
A world where all children have

Its all upto us.
