Setsubun

February 3

Setsubun means a border of the season.
Old Japanese calender tells us
This is the end of winter and spring has come.

You can see very strange creature called ONI
in our picture. Old Japanese people
imagined they have horn(s) and ware fur pants made from tigers.

They are devils and looks very scary.
(We can find some of very kind or stupid and fanny in old tales.)
We have aka (red) oni and ao (blue/green) oni.

Mame-maki

We throw soy beans saying "Oni -wa soto".
It means devil should be OUT from my house or mind.

We do Mame-maki in school. Teachers asked us to find out every oni in our self.
Lazu-oni, Study-hate-oni, Too-much-something-oni .... We kiked them out and call "Fuku wa uchi". It means "happiness come inside".

We have special guests here from the 3rd grade class.
Lovely RED and BLUE ONIs like to say hello to our friends.

Akiyo says: I kicked out a oni in myself. It likes running around in the classroom! (RED ONI)
Yurie says: I kicked out Toomuch-Chattring oni in me! (BLUE ONI)
