Award-Winning Web Sites

Q1. My school doesn't have Internet access yet, but we plan to by September. Can we participate?
A1. Yes, since your students won't necessarily get involved until October. However, you yourself will need Internet access before then for the application/registration process. Specifically, you will need:
  • A computer with Internet access
  • An e-mail account
  • A Web browser
  • An FTP client (for example, WinFTP, CuteFTP or WS_FTP for Windows or Fetch or Anarchie for Macintosh)

Q2. My school has one computer with online access. The lab is scheduled to go online this year. Could I participate with only one computer online?
A2. If you can work around the limitations, there shouldn't be a problem. You can print out the messages in your team's discussion form and post them on a classroom bulletin board. When your team starts building their site, your students can use other computers to do the work, then transfer all the files to the computer connected to the Net. However, if there's a possibility you might temporarily lose access later this year while the lab is being set up, then that will be a problem.
