Award-Winning Web Sites

Q1. If I can't confirm my web skills, can I still participate?
A1. We're counting on you to assess your abilities with integrity. After all, if you can't help your class, they are the ones who will suffer. We are able to point you to resources to develop the skills, but if you can't honestly say to yourself that you can handle building a simple web page or working with FTP, please do not ask to participate until you can.

Q2. Does the teacher has to be conversant in the required skills or is it permitted to have the test done by an assistant or student?
A2. The teacher must have the skills.

Q3. Our school computer club involves students of different ages. Can we participate with the group of students whose ages are between 13 and 16 years old as one team? Can we include a student of 17, who has just finished our school and has been supporting the club's work?
A3. There's no problem with having students of different ages in your group, but you must register your class as belonging to the age category of your oldest student. For example, if most of your students are in primary school but there are also one or two secondary school-aged students, then your class belongs in the secondary school category.

Q4. What is the benefit of applying early?
A4. The primary benefit is that you know you made it into GVC Contest which has a maximum of 100 teams. GVC "facilities" (FTP sites, mailing lists and forums) may not be available at least until October 1, the official start day. That said, as teams are assembled and announced leading up to the final September 30 announcement, early registrations will allow you to use regular e-mail to get to know each other and start brainstorming ideas, etc.
