VC Clubhouse FAQ
Clubhouse Entrance

  • Internet Access

This program is for primary and secondary schools around the world that already have access to the Internet. School may be using either a dedicated or a dialup connection.

  • Groups of Two or More Schools

A GVC Clubhouse group must consist of two or more schools. The rule of two or more schools also applies to individual teachers

If you already have school partners, for instance keypal or sister schools, each school must first individually register with the Global Virtual Classroom. Then, you can create a Clubhouse group.

  • Activities

Groups may do whatever activities they like. Since it is not necessary for groups to create a website as in the GVC Contest, groups can focus on communication.

  • Work Schedule

Partner schools create their own schedules. Adjust your group's schedule to that of each member school. When registering your group on the application form, be sure to enter your beginning and ending dates. There is no need to overestimate how long your project will last as you may extend your project later if necessary.

  • The Common Language of the Program

In addition to their activities, groups may choose what language to use. It is not necessary to use English. However, the GVC program will offer support only in English.

  • Electing a Group Leader

You will need to decide who will be your group's leader before the group is formally registered. That person will register the group.

  • Contacting the GVC Project Manager

The GVC Project Manager will contact only the leader in order to communicate with the whole group. The leader will need to relay messages from the Project Manager to the other members of the group.

The following facilities are available to GVC Clubhouse participants upon request. When registering your group, please indicate which facilities you would like to use.

    • Work Room

Nicenet - Internet Classroom Assistant (ICA) is a communication and collaboration system used by the Global Virtual Classroom for discussion forums, as well as file and link sharing.

    • WWW/FTP Server

Groups may request the use of a WWW (World Wide Web) server accessible via FTP (File Transfer Protocol) and up to 50MB of disk space. Groups will be provided with an FTP account and password. Groups will be responsible for the maintenance of their own directory. In this way, it will be possible to update files 24 hours a day.
